Back to School for a new year is coming up and this pencil holder DIY is a quick and simple way to make a gift for a new teacher or help organize the kid’s homework station.
I love projects made out of old jeans. I enjoy taking something and re-purposing it into a new life.
The holder pictured is the first one I ever made and it has graced my desk for a long time and it has held up well under the daily demands of this writer. The instructions are simple there are just two measurement to make (+ seam allowances):
This is so easy, useful and cute that you’ll find yourself making a bunch to give away. A child who is familiar with sewing (and safety) and is ten or older can, with guidance, hand sew one of these in under an hour.
Oh! Did I mention the cost? Well let’s see, one empty can= $0 A couple of pieces of cloth cut from old jeans=$0 I already had the thread=$0 Yup. The price was virtually $0 to make it. The only cost will be what you chose to fill it with — cookies, flowers or of course, pencils. 🙂
