#bakingoutsidethebox | This fruity diet smoothie morning protein shake is satisfying, healthy and delicious and blends up in under a minute. All the recipes this week have included something that tasted of berries and this diet smoothie is no exception.  (Do you get the feeling I love berries?  Oh yes. Yes I do.)

As you may have read last week my DH and I have been on the Dr. Oz Rapid Weight loss diet for nearly two weeks.  DH has lost 10 pounds and I have lost 7. We both feel great.  Yay!

The diet  is made up of lots of veggies, a little meat, some plain Greek yogurt, and in the morning a delicious fruity diet smoothie. The first morning I felt the smoothie was sort of just ‘so-so’.  Now, I look forward to having it every morning.   in fact I could have it for dessert!   What changed?  My taste buds.

After being off sugar for over a week, my sense of sweetness has become acute.  I feel like I can taste and enjoy natural ingredients more than I ever have.

I suppose I could have drizzled a little honey or Agave into the blender cup in the beginning, but I don’t need it now.

This isn’t a diet smoothie per se.  There is nothing diet about it — just good wholesome ingredients that can keep you satisfied till lunch.

The recipe below is the version my daughter, Angel (of FleeceFun.com) suggested to me when I decided to try the diet.  It is a tad easier and I feel it is tastier than the original, but it’s not a cheat!  🙂  Enjoy.  — Laura

Thanks for your question. I have tried 1/4 of avocado with a 1/2 a pear with good results as a banana replacement. Hope that helps.
